ASSET MANAGER PANEL

PANELIST

It is hard to manage anything without a goal in mind. That is the same for a commercial real estate property.

In many cases, the O (or owner) in BOMA is represented by an Asset Manager whose role is to work with the Property Management team to achieve the goal of the real estate asset – whether it be to hold the property as a long-term investment or prepare it for disposition.

As Property Managers, the more we understand, the better we can support these goals. That is why we’ve gathered the industry’s top Asset Managers from across multiple disciplines to help us understand:

  • Acquisition appetite and how to acquire properties in such a competitive environment
  • How operations can impact returns
  • How this market has affected holding periods
  • Sector trends – will industrial continue to dominate the southeast
  • Technology and IoT - how it will impact CRE
  • How property management providers can differentiate themselves
  • Thoughts on the current CRE cycle
  • LEED, BOMA 360, and Energy Star – what adds value to their investment
  • What drives their decision to hire an investment sales broker and when could a building be sold off-market

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: LESSONS LEARNED IN 2017

PRESENTED BY JOHN SCOTT AND MURRAY GREENE

It is undeniable that the 2017 Hurricane season tested Property Managers across the entire region. While it was unclear where Hurricane Irma would make landfall, we were all certain that it would have devastating effects. The entire nation watched as the state of Florida was on high alert following the devastation in Houston. Ultimately, Irma’s reach was felt as far as Atlanta and even Tennessee.

As Property Managers, there are many emergency management guidelines that we put together based on practices and theory that have not been tested. While we take the time to review these plans yearly, it is real-life experiences that help us adapt to our specific property situations, updated technologies, and changing stakeholder expectations.

In this session, we are breaking down what worked, what didn’t, and how we can adapt our emergency management plans today.
